Halfdays is hiring a strategic, analytical, and commercially minded Director of Planning & Inventory to lead our next phase of growth. This role owns end-to-end forecasting and inventory strategy across DTC and wholesale, ensuring demand-driven planning, inventory discipline, and financial rigor to drive revenue, margin, and capital efficiency.
Reporting to the Chief Product Officer, this leader connects merchandising, finance, marketing, e-commerce, sourcing, and operations. They will translate product strategy into clear demand forecasts, guide inventory investment decisions, and build the planning foundation needed to scale the business with precision.
The ideal candidate brings 8–10+ years of experience in planning and inventory within apparel or consumer brands, with deep expertise in demand-driven planning, strong financial acumen, and the ability to turn complex data into clear, actionable insights.
Responsibilities:
Own the Commercial Forecast
Build and manage revenue, unit, and inventory forecasts across DTC and wholesale
Translate assortment plans into style-level projections for revenue, units, and sell-through
Continuously refine forecasts based on performance trends, marketing inputs, and demand signals
Maintain base, upside, and downside scenarios to guide decision-making
Lead Merchandise Financial Planning
Own the merchandise financial plan across categories and channels
Translate company targets into actionable plans at the category and style level
Manage in-season reforecasting and align the business to updated expectations
Identify risks and opportunities across revenue, margin, and inventory
Drive Inventory Strategy
Define inventory depth, flow, and timing across channels
Manage open-to-buy and inventory investments to balance growth and working capital
Monitor key metrics including sell-through, weeks of supply, and inventory turns
Proactively identify risks and implement mitigation strategies
Support Strategic Decisions
Build scenario models to evaluate growth, pricing, and channel opportunities
Pressure test assumptions and provide clear, data-backed recommendations
Partner with leadership to navigate tradeoffs across revenue, margin, and inventory
Lead Planning Cadence & Process
Lead monthly commercial reviews focused on performance, forecast updates, and actions
Own quarterly reforecasting and support annual planning
Build scalable tools and processes that improve forecast accuracy and discipline
Partner Across the Business
Partner with merchandising on assortment strategy, pricing, and inventory investment
Collaborate with marketing, e-commerce, and wholesale to incorporate demand drivers into forecasts
Partner with finance and operations on reporting and inventory allocation
Align with sourcing and operations on production planning and inventory flow
Support wholesale planning and channel allocation
Qualifications
8–10+ years of experience in planning, merchandising, or inventory management (apparel or consumer preferred)
Strong experience with demand-driven planning (units, sell-through, weeks of supply)
Experience across both DTC and wholesale channels
Strong analytical and modeling skills (Excel required)
Ability to translate complex data into clear insights and recommendations
Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
Experience building or improving planning processes and systems
